Improving end of life care is now firmly on the national agenda for all health and social care providers. With recent policy developments such as the Darzi Report (July 2008), the Department of Health’s End of Life Care Strategy (July 2008), the National Audit Office Report on End of Life Care (Nov 08) and other initiatives, there has never been a more important time to develop and deliver improvements in end of life care.
Omega, the National Association for End of Life Care was incorporated to promote a national collaborative approach to raising the quality of end of life care. Focused upon promoting excellence in all aspects of health and social care provision associated with end of life care, we offer training, research and evaluation of effective solutions.
We work closely with highly skilled academic and clinically trained delivery partners and are also actively involved in developing and promoting improvements.As a young charity, in partnership with others such as the National Gold Standards Framework (GSF) Centre, we attempt to address some of the challenges faced in health and social care in the light of the demographic time-bomb. Specifically, we aim to develop new ideas, enabling tools and training programmes that will lead to greater empowerment of the non-specialist workforce and the public.
Omega, an organisation with ambitious growth plans, is at an early stage of development but will in time find its rightful place as a major player in this area and a leading force for good in supporting and contributing to the very best end of life care.
Omega is seeking exceptional candidates to undertake the following key roles:
Project Manager (Caring with Confidence) - London (part time)
Circa 3 days per week, £28k pro rata
This is an opportunity to get involved with a high profile National Programme which will engage with carers responsible for those facing the end of life.
We are seeking a clear thinking, well organised individual with solid leadership skills who is target-driven and has the ability to get things done. The successful applicant will work within 5 North London boroughs to recruit carers and co-ordinate delivery of the Caring with Confidence programme.

Programme Facilitators (Caring with Confidence) - Nationwide
- Experience of leading informal groups, chairing meetings or delivering training?
- Do you want to help thousands of unpaid adult carers across England?
- Do you have the qualities needed to lead a group of carers responsible for people nearing the end of life?
- Frequent local travel required and some overnight stays necessary. Occasional national travel also possible.
Sessional employment @ £100 per session (plus expenses)
Location: Nationwide opportunities including London, Shropshire and the West Midlands, North West. We are also seeking candidates from other areas.
This is an opportunity to join a growing, enthusiastic team leading an ambitious young strategic charity committed to raising standards and to get involved with a high profile National Programme which will engage with carers, including those facing the end of life.
