Volunteers are vital to Omega’s success in supporting socially isolated and lonely people. Our telephone and penpal befriending services (Chatterbox and Letterbox) are made possible thanks to the hundreds of people who give their time and thoughtfulness as volunteer befrienders. Omega volunteers are trained and supported by head office staff. They are also DBS checked, where necessary.

August 2025 update: We do not currently require additional Letterbox volunteers but we are in great need of additional Chatterbox volunteers. Therefore, for the time being, we are only accepting applications for Chatterbox telephone befrienders.
