The Omega Approach

We want to raise awareness of community issues, and end of life issues in particular, but we also want to influence the agenda. Omega is staffed by a small core team underpinned by a formidable network of advisors. The most effective way of achieving tangible improvements in community-based projects is to work collaboratively; filling gaps by developing resources and support. We are actively seeking proposals, advice and delivery partners to develop projects and resources in:

  • Bereavement support
  • Spirituality
  • Supporting carers
  • Community outreach and engagement

Omega will achieve its goals through:

  • Strategic leadership
  • Networking
  • Awareness-raising
  • Fundraising including public fundraising
  • Events
  • Volunteer and carer recruitment
  • Facilitation
  • Training
  • Dispute resolution and informal mediation
  • Information gathering
  • Toolkit and resource development

Future Plans

Omega is working towards:

  • Creating a hardship fund for carers in financial difficulty
  • Running day trips and short holidays to provide respite for carers, and time away for those recently bereaved
  • Networking informal carers groups; for social activities, information sharing and facilitated support sessions
  • Providing subsidised services to help carers with routine tasks outside of personal care
  • Canvassing the views of carers to better understand their diverse needs
